Task 1 - Packing Lightly

It appears that everyone has their appropriate paperwork and insurance so we are almost ready to set off on our safari adventure! However, there are just a few last minute things we need to do before we can leave!

First off, you need to pick an animal that represents your team! We will be stamping this animal on all of your luggage (and maybe your head) so we can keep up with who is in each group (our brains are full of quiddy knowledge so we don't remember things very well any more)!

The second thing you need to do is come up with a motto for your team! Your motto, animal, and team name should be connected in some way.

For these two, you may be as creative as you wish. It can be a real animal or one from the Harry Potter world. You can draw it, paint it, photoshop it, creative a video, do an interpretive dance (I would be seriously impressed), whatever you want as long as if follows HOL rules and does not give away any RL information about you (as in showing your face if you do a video). You can combine them if you wish, for example if you submitted a picture of your animal, you could have the motto on there with it.

You WILL need to explain to us why you picked the animal and motto you did. We will be judging them on creativity and effort. They are worth 50 points each.

The next thing you need to do this week is pack! We can't go into the safari without supplies! However, Sil and I have already packed so much that you will be limited to TEN items (not including your clothing and food). Your team needs to decide on the ten items you will be bringing. We will not be placing any limits on them, but remember you have to carry what you bring (hence why Sil wouldn't let me bring a quidditch pitch for summer RQT practices >>).

Your ten items will be worth 10 points each for a total of 100 points. Now, most of you are probably thinking that we can't do math since that's only 200 points for the week, but I'm not done! We will be judging the items you pick and you can receive 10 points for every category that your items win. The categories are:

  • Most useless item

  • Most creative item

  • Fiercest item

  • Item most likely to get your group attacked by an animal

  • Most difficult item to pack/travel with

  • Most useful item

  • Most amusing item

  • Most bizarre item

  • Most nature-friendly item

  • Safari Leaders' favourite item

It is possible for your team to win all 10 categories or none at all so pick your items CAREFULLY! Be creative! We're Ravenclaws so of course a book isn't creative (plus Sil already packed a small library). You will have to work hard to win each category since they will give you an advantage over other teams pointswise.

Good luck and get packing!
