Ghost Stories |
Bald Eagle
Sha Moseley did not sleep. It was a known fact—known by her friends and dormmates—that Sha preferred to spend the night reading a book in the Common room, or maybe finish up any remaining homework. She hardly ever used her bed in her dorm; when her body finally refuses to do any work, Sha usually fell asleep in an armchair in the common room, and was awake before anybody could catch her sleeping.
And so, since the Cabins at the Ravenclaw Summer Camp had to have a strict lights-out which even the Leaders had to listen to, Sha grumbled as she rolled onto her side. Someone was snoring faintly, and one bunk was making the most disturbing creaking sounds. Out the window, which she could see from her bed, everything was dark. She could hardly see the other cabins.
Sha was about to close her eyes, when something white fluttered by the window she was looking out of. Sha’s eyes widened. She had never quite believed in ghost, but she is always willing to believe what she sees. Suddenly, there was a high-pitched moan. No longer feeling safe under the protection of the light covers, she jumped up and rushed to the nearest bed. She could not remember who it was that slept there, but still, she shook that person, and glanced around, scared.
'Mom...dad said you wanted some water....' Elavial said entering the vast room, of the hospital. Her mother just grunted and looked out the window.
'Are you feeling okay?' she asked wondering why her mother was acting so wierd. Her mother shook her head and emited from her mother a horrible moan and sank into her pillows. 'Mom! What's wrong? Tell me! I'll get the nurse!' Elavial said rushing to her mothers side and took her hand. Just then her mother took her by the shoulders and shook her pleading for help. 'It's going to be okay mother....'
Elavial couldn't stand to see her mother like this so she closed her eyes and waited for the nurse. Opening them again, she still felt being shook, but the room had gone dark.
"Hm?" she asked. "What's going on?"
Now she remembered. She was at the camp, sleeping in the cabin, but somebody was trying to wake her up, so she looked at the outline of the person next to her and asked. "Sha? Is that you?"
"Anyone home," Catriona called out. "Cat! Why you are home," said Aunt Zelda. "I thought you are staying back for camp," Aunt Helda enquired. Both her aunts looked a bit surprised that Catriona is back home because they just received an owl from her informing them she is attending Summer Camp.
Catriona starting to talk but then a strange feeling came to her. Suddenly her aunts expression changed to shock and then both told her to be quiet. They whispered "Shhhh".......
Catriona opened her eyes and found herself in total darkness but she can hear whispers in the dark. In the darkness she can outline someone is bending down, shaking and talking to Elavial, well if that was Elavial who is sleeping in the bed next to her.
But then she asked anyway "Who is there? Whats going on?"
On the other side of the cabin, Momoko has just slept facing other side of the cabin window. Momo was always hard to sleep at new places. Before getting sleep, she brought her thought in a "trip"; she had a fantasy that Ravenclaw had won this year's House Cup; then she was busy to imagine what kind of witch she would be later; and, at the end, she imagined what activities at the Summer Camp tomorrow would be. After the moon had timely blocked by dark clouds, she successfully got sleep at last.
But it felt no longer than 15 minutes after Momo fall asleep, she was woken up by the whispers behind her. She saw three figures (of what she wondered were her cabin mates) whose movements gestures could be caught by her. As she blinked her eyes, she came to them and accidentally touched two or three persons on her way, before at last asked, "Wha~ happen? Why don't you sleep, guys?"
Had sleep been just around the corner, it was gone now. Sha glanced around the room every time someone spoke out.
"There's a ghost," Sha cried, no longer caring if she'd wake all her campers. "I knew this cabin would be haunted!"
Sha tiptoed back to her bed, and peered out the window. She saw it again, clearer this time. The ghost was white, sheetlike, and very much translucent. It was floating above the ground, and was further away than it was before. Sha screamed.
A Ghost! But Catriona always feel optimistic about these sort of things - they meant no harm. Perhaps it needed help or wanted to sent a message or maybe someone trying to scare the wits out of us.
"Ahhhhhhhhh...", Sha screamed. Catriona was the first to ran up to where Sha was standing and saw that ghostlike floating about. Next, she could hear the commotion in the cabin where everyone is getting out of bed and headed towards the window.
Elavial bumped her head on the top on the other bunk as Sha screamed. It took her by suprise so she jumped. "Owies..." she said to herself. Looking outside the window Sha had screamed at she looked over and did see something white. But Elavial was grumpy, she had been waken up and she hated that. It never mattered who woked her up, she would always be in a bad mood if someone woke her up. But not wanting to scream at Sha nor the others, she told the girls that were talking and worrying amongst themselves to 'shh' and got out of bed.
Fixing her pajamas, which were quite big, Elavial walked towards the window, with her eyes half closed. "Whoever thinks this is funny, can stop now. You had your fun, go back to your cabins our we'll tell your leaders." she said out into the open window.
Just then a gust of wind had blew her away from the window, and made her land on her bottom quite hard. She shot her eyes wide open and couldn't belive that just happened.
Dariya was sleeping. She was quite a deep sleeper. Whenever she just fell asleep. Usually she was awake pretty long. But when she slept, she really slept and it was pretty hard to wake her up. But when Sha screamed, even Dariya woke up with a start. She fell out of her bed and blinked her eyes. She saw some of her cabinmates in the room, being awake.
"What are you doing?", Dariya whispered. Though it maybe wasn't that necessary because if someone didn't wake up because of a scream, they wouldn't wake up because someone was just speking in a normal voice. But Dariya usually always felt that se had to whisper when there was just a possibility that someone was sleeping. She herself didn't really like it that much when someone wake her up when she was sleeping, so she didn't want to do that to others.
Dariya hoped this thing was something pretty important because she had to wake up. It seemed to be important. If it wasn't, why half of the people in her cabin be awake? Screaming? She had really no idea why.
Ryan rubbed his eyes and grabbed his glasses from the side. Surprisingly, the level of commotion startled Ryan. Ryan was always known to be a the laziest and deepest sleeper of the cabin. It usually took a great deal to wake him up. With his eyes partly open, Ryan looked at his fellow cabinmates. "I caught 5 butterflies!", Ryan exclaimed. Ryan was apparently still stuck in his dream. He had dreamt/dreamed about frolicking with his lady friend on the field by his farm. Eventually Ryan snapped himself out of it and walked over to the group.
"Psst. Someone better have had good reason to have woken me up! I had a very nice dream, mind you!", Ryan said in a snarky tone. "Fill me in, right now." But that was definately unnecessary. Ryan leaned over to the window and his eyes opened wider than ever. His questions were answered.
Momo had noticed what made Sha scream now. She perfectly saw the ghost too. She tried to tell Sha to calm down, or the ghost noticed their existences. Unfortunately, Momo’s effort was clearly failed. Sha seemed not taking any attention to her. She thought that Sha was too busy to see the ghost. So, she started to wake up everybody around her, whom she didn’t really know who were sleeping on the sleeping bags.
While trying to wake up everybody, Momo glanced at the ghost timely. Now she was sure that the ghost has stopped its movement. She was afraid and, spontaneously, she grabbed Ela’s arm, hid behind her and got ready with her wand. She wasn't care about any rules about the used of the wand now, as the ghost seemed started to turn back and would lovely to show its face…
Flip. Flop. Flip. Flop. These were the sounds of the rock known as Breanna. She actively slept. There was not a dull moment with her feet flailing about as if to run of thin air. Flip. Crunch.
Breanna yawned, "Hmm... I wonder what that was..." she wondered as she flipped onto her stomach. "Ohhh!! No!! That was my favorite branch too! It took me ages to find!"
Breanna blinked a few times as she realized that she wasn't the only one awake. Most of her cabineers (as she delightfully referred to them as) were gathered around the window.
'I wonder what's going on,' she thought to herself as she cautiously approached the group.
Breanna's eyes widened as she let out a gasp when her eyes met the face of the ghost. She immediately proceeded to back up only to trip on her foot and land on her backside...
Rachel woke with a jerk as she heard a great, loud "THUD"
"BRE!!" Rachel sat up and stared at Bre who was lying on the floor, but she soon stopped when she saw the shape of the ghost.
"Guys go back to bed, it's probably just one of the other cabins playing a trick on us." Rachel said sleepily more to herself rather than the others.
She sunk down onto her pillows and was just about to go back to sleep when a chill suddenly ran down her spine.
Usually one would think this as a stupid thing to be scared by but to Rachel this wasn't. This meant unseen magic. This used to happen everytime she did unforseen magic when she was younger.
"Forget what I just said," she murmered putting on her Ugg boots and walking to the window the watch the ghost.
Elavial felt Momo, grab her arm and hide behind her. Elavial supressed her fear alittle and patted Sha's shoulder. "Sha, shouldn't we check it out? See what it wants?"
Really Elavial wanted to say 'Come on, Sha! Be the leader of the cabin and save us!' but it would seem too desperate and mean.
"Come on...I'll go with you, if you'd like..." she said putting on her slippers and little glasses. Taking her wand out of her bag next to her bunk, she tugged Sha's shoulder.
Golden Eagle
The night was dark and windy, though there had not yet been any sign of rain. The campers had been forced to leave their games for the night, due to the threat of storms. Icarus stood holding the door open as the last few ran inside before closing the door and throwing the latch, performing a simple sealing charm to keep wind or rain from entering the toastily warm cabin.
"So much for that," he sighed, glancing out the window at the first flash of lightening crossed the sky. He shot his campers a grin. "Good thing I hid some snacks in here!" he announced, moving to where he had found a floorboard that hadn't been attached correctly and removing the bag of sweets he'd smuggled into camp.
"Anyone know any good games?" he asked, dumping the sweets in the middle of the floor and motioning for the campers to join him.
Padmé ran into to the cabin, and produced a towel from the mess around her bed and started drying her long, tangled hair.
"I thought it was supposed to be summer" she said, looking out the window as well. Then she noticed Icarus pulling out a bag of sweets. "Perfect," she smiled. "I'm afraid I've only got a set of Exploding Snap Cards and we might be a bit too many for that.."
She found them in another part of her mess anyway, and sat down on the floor with the others. At that precise moment all the light in the cabin, even the candles, went out.
Icarus was sitting down to join the game when every last candle in the cabin flickered out, bathing the room in a darkness thick enough to physically feel.
Icarus reached for his wand, then stopped himself. He didn't trust himself enough with charms to attept to relight them; he stood just as much chance of lighting the entire cabin on fire.
"Is everyone all right?" he asked.
Hazreal had always loved the slightly melancholic feeling of the strong winds and cooling weather before rain, but today was different. Somehow the impending storm seemed harsh and threatening, and the winds sent a chilling trickle down her spine. It was so bad that everyone willingly moved into the cabin to escape the storm.
Leaning by a side of the cabin, she pondered. Thunder, lightning, a clouded sky, a disrupted camp. All of these could only spell one thing -- trouble. The signs were unanimous in pointing towards something, something that made Hazreal troubled.
Then, the lights were out. It was pitch dark, there was no one to hold on to and the cabin was silent after gasps of shock. Hazreal heard Ica calling out for everyone's safety, appeasing her fears. She responded with a nod, but realized that nobody could see anything in the dark.
Amidst the resounding "yes, I'm okay"s, Hazreal spotted a small spark in the light bulb above. She thought she was dreaming at first, but she soon heard soft sizzling sounds of electricity passing through wires as the bulb flickered with sparks, as though it would soon burst into flames. Thunder flashed across the sky outside, when gory stick-like things slid up the window pane outside just opposite where she was. "Boom", the fingers, no stick-like things, slapped right onto the window, dripping oozing green mucus.
She screamed.
